Fresh from their last sold-out show at the pier where they performed Wishbone Ash’s seminal 1972 album Argus in its entirety. The band return to Worthing Piers Southern Pavilion to perform another classic album from the vintage years of Wishbone Ash – 1970’s iconic Wishbone Ash debut album. There will also be other Wishbone Ash classics as well as some of Martin Turners latter achievements on the night.
Released in December 1970, the debut Wishbone Ash album contained an eclectic mix of progressive rock, hard-rock, blues, jazz and folk influences with the band’s pioneering twin guitar harmonies resplendent throughout. Unlike many bands who developed an identifiable style across the course of several albums, the still youthful Wishbone Ash set the blueprint with their first offering.
Featuring stage favourites such as “Blind Eye”, “Lady Whiskey” and album-closing tour-de-force “Phoenix”, the album received rave reviews from the music media with legendary broadcaster John Peel proclaiming “I haven’t been so impressed with a relatively new band for a long time. Their music is original, exciting and beautifully played.” The album’s appeal has endured five decades of musical change and remains a firm favourite with fans of the band and the classic rock genre.
This is a very rare treat to see someone of his calibre close up in an intimate and atmospheric venue so don’t miss out..this will sell out, the last two shows have!
